Walton Residence

Pack Creek Ranch, Moab, Utah

A 1600 square foot private residence, tucked away among the junipers and sage at the base of the La Sal mountains. The owners desired a space designed for privacy while taking in views and optimizing natural light and open plan living. Their preference for soft edges, warm colors, and natural materials are demonstrated throughout the home.

• Spacial arrangement to locate living areas toward light and views, with minimal square footage.
• Passive solar w/ south facing orientation, low-e windows and properly sized overhangs
• ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) wall construction creates an R-30 wall system that is efficient, soundproof and fire resistant.
• Recycled cellulose roofing insulation w/ durable metal roof finish
• Energy efficient lighting coupled with daylighting strategies
• Energy star heating system, w/ room by room zoning control
• Cooling by natural ventilation
• Xeriscaped landscape
• Locally harvested wood posts, beams and siding
• Low-maintenance hard surface flooring
• Low voc finishes
